Essential oils for hay fever

It's that time of year again, and the all-important pollen that keeps our beautiful planet thriving has clocked on and started doing its job. Unfortunately as crucial as it is for Bees, Butterflies, plants, flowers, and crops, it brings with it the most annoying symptoms you'd rather not have in summer.

  • Sneezing

  • Itchy eyes

  • Runny or blocked nose

  • Heavy head

And more.

our hay fever heroes

One oil my partner swears by and uses each year is our Soothe with Peppermint, Lavender & Eucalyptus Essential oil blend.

Another great blend is our Cleanse Essential Oil blend containing Lemon, Lavender, Rosemary & Tea Tree essential oils.

The essential oils in these two blends hold all the natural benefits needed to help soothe with their anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial and anti-histamine properties. These two blends are great when used in an electric diffuser or burner to cleanse the air in the home.

how to use essential oils for colds or hay fever

  • Apply a couple of drops to a tissue or cotton wool ball. Keep these close by and inhale when needed.

  • Keep the bottle close to hand and simply inhale from the bottle when needed.

  • Use the steam inhalation method - Boil some water and pour it into a heatproof bowl. Set it down on a table with a protective placemat and add 2 - 5 drops of your chosen essential oil blend. Sit with your head over the bowl and a towel over your head. Close your eyes and inhale the steam deeply for a couple of minutes at a time.

  • My partner's favourite - If you still have your reusable (clean) facemask, drop a couple of drops onto the inside of the mask, and put it on when needed to inhale the fragrance. Take regular breaks though, as inhaling oil for too long can cause a headache. As they say, less is more. Be aware though, that essential oils can stain fabrics and materials.

  • If you have a fabric mask that has a pocket for a removable filter pad, even better. Simply add a couple of drops to a cotton wool pad or tissue, and place it inside the pocket.
